Who They Are
Her office was a jungle. Her care grew things — plants and people alike.
Steady, reliable, essential. The SBA ran because Maureen made it run.
In London, at a museum, she revealed an artist within — still blooming.
Patient with late receipts. Generous with her time. Kind in every interaction.
Stories & Memories
Maureen had big shoes to fill when Terry retired. Instead of trying to be like her, I really appreciated that Maureen made the job hers by bringing her unique gifts and experiences to the work.
Maureen was a candidate for the position in the SBA for Assistant to the Dean. After 4 - 5 interviews Terry Coombes and I did a post review of the candidates. Terry was adamant and so right when she told me that if you hire Maureen she will bring positive leadership to her employment. Terry, you were right.
Maureen was so understanding about my late receipts... If I were Maureen, I would have tazed me!
Maureen and AJ were the dream team - I always picture the two of you going out for walks together at lunch time or the early afternoon.
Maureen, during our trip to London, we visited an art museum together, and I came to see the artist within you. I hope that part of you continues to grow and one day fully blossoms in your retirement.
My daughter Beth went through a phase where she really loved plants, especially succulents. Maureen always has a jungle going in her office (and in the lounge!) so I mentioned that to her, and she brought in a bunch of sweet little green things for Beth to nurture. Beth is off to college now, but I'm still taking care of the survivors! I think of Maureen every time I do.
Maureen taught me so much when I took over Beta Alpha Psi and how to handle concur and expense reports. She's always so gracious and kind. I appreciate her patience.
Maureen helped me propagate a piece of her Christmas cactus. It is now thriving and big, and flowers every winter :) I will always have a gift from her growing in my house.

The Joy
Thank you so much for being our rock in the SBA and keeping things organized and moving forward. You will be greatly missed but also, we are very happy for you and the next chapter of your journey. Do not be a stranger.
From All of Us
Every Christmas cactus cutting she shared will flower again this winter. Every process she guided someone through made them a little more capable. The garden she tended — of plants and people — keeps growing.
